The Angle

What an Ascendant line is.

The eastern horizon: where this planet was climbing into view at the minute you were born. It is the angle of the self, and it governs the body, the manner, and the way a place meets you before you have said anything to it.

An Ascendant line is a curve, not a stripe. The longitude where a planet rises shifts with latitude, and it shifts hardest near the latitudes where that planet stops rising at all.

Why Moon on this angle in particular.

Of the four Moon lines this is the one that changes the texture of an ordinary day. The Ascendant governs how a place meets you, so the Moon there makes the meeting emotional rather than practical: you pick up the mood of a room on the way in and carry it out again. Sensitivity of that order is an instrument, and like any instrument it needs somewhere quiet to be put down.

The Interpretation

What this line tends to support.

Our own entry for Moon Ascendant, quoted exactly as the readings use it.

You become permeable. Feelings arrive ahead of thoughts, other people's states land in your body, and the place reads you as openly as you read it. Intuition is unusually accurate here, and unusually difficult to switch off.

What to watch for.

Porousness is not the same as knowing your own needs. Crowds cost more than they used to, energy runs on a tide rather than a schedule, and small slights land as injuries. You will need a door that actually closes.

Is this the line you are looking for?

Read this one when the question is how a place will feel day to day rather than what it will do for you. It is the right line for anyone recovering and the wrong one for anyone whose decision turns on money or standing. What it carries is real and it is emotional, which makes it easy to over-weight if you are already unhappy where you are.

Computed

Where this line actually runs.

A line meaning is easy to write and hard to check, so here is this one on three real charts. Cast any of them in software you trust and the lines should land where we say they do. The method, and what we do not claim, is here.

How This Page Was Made

Which parts are measured, and which are craft.

The distances are measured. Each is the shortest great-circle distance from a real settlement to the exact curve of the line, computed against a committed public-domain gazetteer by the same engine that measures a paying customer's own.

The interpretation is a different kind of thing and we would rather say so than blur it. It is craft, written by hand in the tradition locational astrologers have refined since the nineteen seventies, and it describes what a place tends to support and to demand. It is not a prediction, and no line on any map decides what happens to a person.
