The eastern horizon: where this planet was climbing into view at the minute you were born. It is the angle of the self, and it governs the body, the manner, and the way a place meets you before you have said anything to it.
An Ascendant line is a curve, not a stripe. The longitude where a planet rises shifts with latitude, and it shifts hardest near the latitudes where that planet stops rising at all.
The Ascendant governs how a place receives you, and Saturn is the planet that withholds. The reception here is cool and the assessment is accurate, which is a hard combination to live inside and an unusually honest one. People often say they feel older under this line. What they generally mean is that the place has stopped flattering them, and that some part of them had been relying on being flattered.

The place strips you down to what is load-bearing. Frivolity falls away, the body starts asking for rules, and you carry a gravity that others read as seriousness or as age. Solitude is the standing weather here, and it is unexpectedly productive.
Loneliness in this place is not decorative; it goes deep and it lasts. You may feel older than you are, judge yourself in a voice that sounds borrowed from someone else, and project a coldness you do not actually feel.
A line to choose on purpose or not at all. It is the right answer when the honest question is whether you are serious, and the wrong answer to almost anything about comfort or speed. Nobody drifts into a good experience here, and the people who report it as the making of them generally went knowing exactly what they were doing.
Choose it for a season of deliberate austerity: the manuscript, the training block, the year of learning to need nobody's approval. It will demand solitude and cost you your lightness, and it will hand back a spine and a body you actually govern.

The distances are measured. Each is the shortest great-circle distance from a real settlement to the exact curve of the line, computed against a committed public-domain gazetteer by the same engine that measures a paying customer's own.
The interpretation is a different kind of thing and we would rather say so than blur it. It is craft, written by hand in the tradition locational astrologers have refined since the nineteen seventies, and it describes what a place tends to support and to demand. It is not a prediction, and no line on any map decides what happens to a person.
