The Angle

What a Midheaven line is.

The top of the sky: the meridian where this planet stood highest at the minute you were born. It is the angle of the public record, and it governs work, standing, and the thing a person ends up known for, which is not always the thing they set out to do.

A Midheaven line is a meridian. It runs pole to pole at a single longitude, which is why it draws straight while the horizon lines curve.

Why Mercury on this angle in particular.

The Midheaven is where a chart faces the public, and Mercury there makes that a verbal relationship. Teaching, writing, broking, reporting and analysis all sit comfortably under this line. It rewards speed and volume more readily than it rewards depth, which is worth knowing before choosing it: the reputation that forms is one of quickness, and quickness is easy to be admired for and easy to be underestimated for.

The Interpretation

What this line tends to support.

Our own entry for Mercury Midheaven, quoted exactly as the readings use it.

The work speeds up and starts to talk. Words, teaching, publishing, deals, media, anything that moves information for a living finds traction here, and you are recognized for how well you think out loud. Careers under this line tend to branch rather than climb.

  • Work and career
  • Being seen
  • Creativity

What to watch for.

Busy is not the same as building. A reputation here is vulnerable to a single badly chosen sentence, and breadth can quietly replace depth until you are known for everything and trusted with nothing in particular.

Is this the line you are looking for?

Bring this one a question about a career made of words: writing, teaching, broking, anything where being heard is the mechanism. It is not an answer about wealth, and treating it as one is the standard mistake, because visibility of this kind converts into money only when something else is also true.

Computed

Where this line actually runs.

A line meaning is easy to write and hard to check, so here is this one on three real charts. Cast any of them in software you trust and the lines should land where we say they do. The method, and what we do not claim, is here.

How This Page Was Made

Which parts are measured, and which are craft.

The distances are measured. Each is the shortest great-circle distance from a real settlement to the exact curve of the line, computed against a committed public-domain gazetteer by the same engine that measures a paying customer's own.

The interpretation is a different kind of thing and we would rather say so than blur it. It is craft, written by hand in the tradition locational astrologers have refined since the nineteen seventies, and it describes what a place tends to support and to demand. It is not a prediction, and no line on any map decides what happens to a person.
